The Ceramic Water Filter Story

The Ceramic water filters are produced with locally sourced ingredients in Higuerito, a small village located south of Puerto Plata, in the Dominican Republic. Higuerito is home to dozens of artisans, whose skills in fired ceramics have been handed down for generations through the centuries.
WTW implements continuous, on-going water, health and hygiene programs in which the ceramic water filters are a key part of life within those communities. They also strive to create family buy-in and ownership to ensure the value and partnership is understood.
There is a saying in the Dominican Republic that goes “Ron dao hace daño”, the translation “Free rum hurts you.” With that being said, there is a form of investment from the person receiving the filter. When there is buy in, this empowers individuals to take ownership of the filter and ensure it is maintained and functioning for a long time.
